The Lendtable TeamApril 18, 2022

Hi Jeremy, we're so excited to have you here! Let's get to know you a little.

Where are you from?

I grew up in Costa Mesa CA (Orange County in Southern California)

Before coming to Lendtable, what were you doing?

I spent the last few years leading a team of Product Managers at NerdWallet supporting their customer acquisition efforts. This meant working with teams focussed on growth across SEO, Performance Marketing, Brand Marketing and CRM/email along with a few other things. It was a great experience getting to go deep in all of these areas. Before NerdWallet I was at Capital One on their Enterprise Digital team where I focused on experimentation and personalization capabilities. Going back a bit farther I have been a Product Manager at Sephora.com and Macys.com which is where I got my start in A/B testing, personalization, and generally using digital analytics to improve customer experiences. I have been a Product Manager for a really long time now and am really excited to come sort of full circle at an early stage startup, which I haven't done since the very beginning of my career.

What made you choose to come to Lendtable?

The mission really resonated with me and the product just made so much sense. The opportunity to work in FinTech but in a way that didn't fundamentally feel predatory or exploitative was really exciting. The energy and enthusiasm I got from Mitch and Sheridan and the fun vibes I got from the rest of the team made my decision pretty easy.

Why is Lendtable's mission important to you?

I was never really taught personal finance beyond the basics of budgeting but that didn't prevent me from accumulating a pretty large amount of credit card debt in my 20s which continued to impact me well into my 30s. I spent so many years trying to get out of debt that I got a very late start on saving or thinking about retirement. I definitely understand the difficult decisions people can face when prioritizing what to do with their money. The idea that we can help people get the most out of their benefits and ensure none of that "free money" goes unused is something I really should have done.

Where do you look for financial tips and advice?

I'm a little biased but I really do think NerdWallet is a great source for information on personal finance and a few of their competitors do a pretty good job as well (Investopedia). I have been close to hiring a financial advisor of some kind many times but still haven't yet.

What do you consider your greatest financial accomplishment?

We purchased our home in 2007 and in hindsight, took a terrible loan. Managing to keep our home after the market crash just a year after that coming out the other side was a really big deal.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give your younger self?

That's a tough one. When it comes to money, I'm not sure what I could say. The credit card debt I piled up supported a lot of fun times and I can't really say I regret it but I do wish I was just a little more thoughtful and careful about it. More generally, I would tell my younger self to worry less about what other people think and definitely take every opportunity to travel that comes your way.

Rapid fire time!

Favorite season?

I'm pretty pure Californian so seasons aren't really that big of a thing for me but I love beaches and the snow and watching things bloom in spring and change colors in the fall. I like them all.

Pet peeve?

Having to choose favorite things? j/k. kinda.

Favorite cuisine?

Italian for comfort, but I'm a foodie and love trying new things.

Favorite city?

I hella love Oakland. As a tourist, Chicago has always treated me well and I love London too.

Favorite drink?

Cappuccino every morning. Otherwise, don't make me choose a favorite beer, wine, or cocktail. I'm always trying something new and they all have their perfect place and moment.

Nickname?

Technically I guess Jeremy is a nickname (full name is Jeremiah). I don't really have any others that are used regularly, or at least nothing I would want to share here.

Any last remarks?

I am really excited to be joining the team and getting back to a small start up and helping to build something that I think could be truly impactful.
