Hi Karissa, we're so excited to have you here! Why don't you introduce yourself a little?

Where are you from?

I was born and raised in San Jose and currently live just outside Memphis.

Before coming to Lendtable, what were you doing?

Previously, I was at Rent the Runway within their Operations department focused on repayments, billing processes, asset recovery, and risk management. Prior to that, I was in operations management for local businesses in Mendocino, CA and Denver, CO with a short career break to be a full time mother.

What made you choose to come to Lendtable?

At its core, Lendtable's product makes so much sense and is so simple it's almost too good to be true! I also really enjoyed meeting the team and getting a better feel for the culture. I feel truly valued as an employee here.

Why is Lendtable's mission important to you?

Growing up, my mom worked 3 jobs as a single mom to make ends meet. I was never taught financial literacy when we were just trying to scrape by. I love that Lendtable values equity and accessibility when it comes to personal finance.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

I'd have to say my 5 wonderful kids but also I'm honestly really passionate about reading and slam poetry. I'm even in a book club!

Where do you look for financial tips and advice?

I personally love financial advice from You Need A Budget (YNAB), NerdWallet, and sometimes Mint too!

What do you consider your greatest financial accomplishment?

I'd have to say purchasing my first home. I worked extremely hard to make it happen and rebuilt my credit from the ground up to do so.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give your younger self?

Pay off your credit cards but don't close them. Don't lose sight of your love for reading. It's okay to be the weird kid.

Summer in California, Fall in Memphis.

Mexican food, hands down.

A large iced Aftershock rebel from Dutch Bros. Similar to a flavored redbull with cold foam on top. Yummmm :)
